Kidney Stones In Pregnant Women May Be Connected To These Two Silent Killers!

According to study results which were recently presented at the American Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Week, women who develop kidney stones have a higher likelihood of developing certain serious chronic diseases during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes and gestational hypertension.

Test subjects were comprised of a group of pregnant women whose outcomes with stones were compared against those without. Women with preexisting diabetes or high blood pressure were excluded from the study. What the researchers found indicated that maximum systolic blood pressure levels during the kidney stone sufferers was, on average, much higher during pregnancy than those who had not been suffering from kidney stone formation. This risk was further heightened in women who were overweight or obese prior to becoming pregnant. Findings did not show any effect on the baby’s health after delivery. This study should still motivate expectant mothers to take steps toward monitoring their diets carefully, thereby, curtailing the risks associated with obesity.

To mitigate kidney stone formation, it’s important to drink plenty of water, but you can give that water an extra boost by incorporating some of the following (check with your doctor if you’re currently pregnant before consuming any of these) :
• Pomegranate Juice
• Celery Juice
• Kidney Bean Broth
• Lemon Juice
• Basil Juice
• Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
