Watermelon – Strawberry Mojito
This delicious sweet smoothie includes watermelon (rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants) which is kidney friendly and strawberries (high in fiber and potassium for heart health and blood pressure control) and basil which is one of the best antioxidants.
1 ¾ cup diced watermelon
1 cup frozen unsweetened strawberries
1 ½ Tbsp fresh lemon juice
1 ½ basil leaves
½ cup water
Mix all ingredients in blender until slushy and enjoy how refreshing it is.
Heart disease is one of the main causes of death in kidney patients and research shows that women who ate more than 3 servings of strawberries and blueberries per week were much less likely to suffer from heart attacks. The antioxidants in the fruits make blood vessels more flexible and this lowers blood pressure.
