Is Baking Soda Good For The Kidneys? (Video)

Is baking soda good for the kidneys? | How it Helps the kidneys and what baking soda to take

Sodium Bicarbonate, also known as baking soda, has shown to have tremendous kidney benefits! With chronic kidney disease, the kidneys struggle to remove acid. This can lead to a condition known as Metabolic Acidosis, or the buildup of acid in the body. Metabolic Acidosis can lead to the progression of kidney disease. It can also lead to increased bone loss (osteoporosis), muscle loss, inflammation, and even an increased chance of death. However, studies have shown that by ingesting sodium bicarbonate, patients with kidney issues can help neutralize that acid buildup in the body. Research has found that sodium bicarbonate can dramatically slow the progress of kidney disease. Other studies have found that in some cases it can help patients avoid dialysis altogether.

Now, you can find baking soda in powder form in your local supermarket, the only problem is it doesn’t taste that great. Additionally, baking soda in powder form is not as pure as other forms of sodium bicarbonate that are meant to get ingested, but you can still use it. How much you use depends on where your current kidney health is and what you’re trying to accomplish. Always start small, you could start out with a half teaspoon to one teaspoon per day.

The other option is to take sodium bicarbonate pills. The pills are a better option because they are easier to take and they’re cleaner. The pills are purified and they’re free of toxins which could possibly be in powder forms. The only issue with sodium bicarbonate pills is that sometimes you might need a lot of them to get the desired effect. Sodium bicarbonate is used to relieve heartburn, sour stomach, or acid indigestion by neutralizing excess stomach acid. So, if you don’t take plenty of sodium bicarbonate there won’t be enough left over to help the kidneys.

Additionally, you can try using a delayed release formula. Here, at Healthy Kidney Inc. we make a delayed release sodium bicarbonate formula called Kidney Restore. Kidney Restore’s special delayed release capsule helps prevent stomach acid from neutralizing the sodium bicarbonate so your body gets more of it. It also has probiotics to help support kidney health and help the elimination of toxins. Kidney Restore has received thousand of positive reviews on amazon which you can go check.

Another option is our sister company Bio Wisdom Nutraceuticals, which used to be called Nature’s Path. We still have a product there called Bicarb Boost which is delayed release formula. It’s 650 milligrams which is equivalent to one pill, except it’s delayed release. It avoids a lot of the negative effects of baking soda like upset stomach by neutralizing stomach acid. This can affect mineral vitamin absorption so  you may want to avoid this if you’re looking to get a lot of baking soda to help support kidney health. Take a look at Bicarb Boost– it’s available on amazon. You can also call us or order from our website at healthykidneyinc.com.
