There’s no medical society organization that’s saying you shouldn’t take it. the first thing you need to do is get tested you want to get tested for that vitamin d level to know where you’re at and it doesn’t matter where you live because they even look at populations in the middle east and places where it’s sunny almost all year because you get vitamin d from the sun and it didn’t matter even these places all that have sun all year, the people who had kidney disease there were still deficient. for most people who have kidney disease, you’re going to come back deficient. you can either use d2 okay which is the synthetic form of vitamin d that you would get from your doctor or most people use vitamin d3 it’s the more natural form. your blood test is going to have a range on your vitamin d, it’s going to go from zero to a hundred. thirty being deficient so anything 30 or less and even like 35 or less shows that that’s not optimal and not good for kidney disease. on that range in your blood work, you really want to be between like 40 to 50 to 60 40 to 60. higher than that of high 50 60 range we have a lot of doctors saying you should take more get your levels up to 80 100. We know that with kidney disease one of the biggest problems is calcification. calcification of the vascular system that’s what makes you more prone to cardiovascular to heart disease issues and so taking those higher doses of vitamin d increase calcium absorption and you might be increasing the calcium absorption in the wrong places so we know we don’t want to take the risk and just go higher because higher you think is better not necessarily you want to keep anybody with kidney disease to that safer range and that 50 to 60 area. but don’t push it higher because we don’t know long term what the problems are and if you have high calcium with kidney disease treatment is to stop taking vitamin d because if you stop taking the vitamin d you’re not gonna absorb that calcium and your levels can come down in the blood work.
How Vitamin D2 and Vitamin K Should Be Taken
Vitamin D is needed to be found when getting tested, you’ll need to supplement to either get the vitamin d2 from your doctor or d3 that’s over the counter and to start, most people will do well with 2 000 IU’s of vitamin d3 and at 2000. I use vitamin d3 it’s 50 micrograms what the new measurements are that they’re changing over to so that’s what you want to find there is higher there are lower doses really hard to say without having your blood tested because if you have really low levels of vitamin d then you can take more but at a safe recommendation for anybody 2 000 is good so that’s vitamin d okay get tested make sure you get tested first anybody kidney disease should if deficiency start to correct it now the other problem with kidney disease is cardiovascular disease so when the kidneys don’t work right you’re at a much higher rate of heart disease. Cholesterol levels go off you know blood pressure a big issue with kidney disease and so Vitamin K2.
